It chronicles his childhood in segregated Durham NC through his successful pro football career, to his debut solo exhibition at a prestigious gallery in NYC. please go to www.erniebarnes.com for more information. He is quite impressive. Now speaking of being impressive, let me take a break, return and impress myself with my future book.

Another great African-American artist. I love his work also. Met him a few years ago when I was passing through North Carolina. Now that I think about it, I've met a few of our legendary artists. Love, love, love Black Art. And hope to add more to my collection as I get things settled. Thanks for sharing this. I hope more of us will begin to read about & seek out our artists. It's how we survive culturally - whether we're poets, writers, singers, artists, dancers, actors, etc.

Girl, you told the truth there. Regardless of our background and what we do, this art helps us to survive and holds the glue that keeps us together.
